Idols are being painted and readied for the “Mizhithurakkal” (opening of the eyes) ceremony. The idols are being made by a group from Rajastan led by Bola Ram, another Thanjavur based group led by Tanika Jalav, and local sculptors Mottamoodu Vijayan and Bhoopathi. The finished idols would be handed over to local level committees and installed the next day.The idols would be taken in procession before being immersed in sea, bringing the festival to a close.
